Last week was an eventful week of entertainment and therefore we wrote a recount writing of one of those events. Kapahaka has always been a special part for me and so these are my three things I do well in writing. I have also included what I could do to improve my writing next time.

Kapa Haka Recount
Once a year at Northland College, all the schools around the area perform a Kapa Haka bracket to celebrate Kapa Haka and to bring family together to enjoy a day out watching their children or relations perform.

It was my first time performing with Tautoro so I was a bit nervous but I was mostly excited. I was feeling great to get back on the stage as I did last year, the whole school got changed into their Kapa Haka uniforms which made me even more excited to perform and get out there.
The whole lot of us got on the bus then arrived at Northland College the minute we got there everyone said we were performing right at that moment. we all quickly bolted to the back of the stage as fast as we could so we could get there on time, then on to the stage we went.
The whole school stunned the crowed  with our beautiful voices and our charming smiles. I’m pretty sure we even put some people into tears of joy after our performance. Once we finished our bracket everyone cheered we even got a standing ovation  which I thought we pretty awesome we quickly walked off stage so we could let the next school  perform. My parents were waiting for me once I hopped off the stage they both gave be a big hug and congratulated me on my performance I Asked if I could stay a little longer to watch the Kura so we decided to stay to watch them perform and they were also amazing  afterwards  we drove back to school so I could get dressed out of my kapa haka uniform because I forgot my clothes wow!

I must be really organised so back into my normal clothes walking out the door then guess what Keila decides to scare me and yes she did I got the most biggest fright I had ever received in  my life  it was extremely  scary especially when I least expected it but even though I just got the biggest scare ever I still decided to stay and hang out at school for a little bit longer because my dad was trying to show off playing basketball with the little kids but soon after then I was off back home….

I really love performing kapa haka and after we finished our bracket I got lots of compliments about Tautoro School and how I performed so overall it was an amazing day and I can't wait to perform next year.

List 3 things that you think you did well in this writing.
1   what I think I did well is I used lots of descriptive words in my writing.
2  something else I did well is that I elaborated on most of my writing.
3  I also organised my writing very well.

What do you need to work on to improve your writing?
Keep using a lot more descriptive words and try to use some personification in my writing.

Here is a poster for our school fundraiser for our school pool on the 23 of July.

This is my I am poem WALT: create a poem about myself and others

Being Different……

I am a person who observes people and the things I have noticed most are…..
I see people holding back and by holding back I mean they wear a mask,  a mask hiding the real them. why do they wear that mask? because people will not accept them, for not who they truly are and that… that is my problem with this world.
We don’t accept people for who they are but the reason for that is because we see ourselves as one. We see ourselves as  a whole.
We think of ourselves very highly and therefore making people like us, regardless... so we don’t feel left out, or,  we are allowed to feel different.
Now me!
I try as hard  as I can to be different because I don't want to be anyone else.  I want to be me!  Me! Not you, not her nor him I want to be me!! I want to be that girl who stands out for being different not for trying to be someone i'm not, or doing normal things in life…. I want to do the impossible. I want to set that record that no one thought was possible.
